Update 2.0.0: Rocket Launchers, Life Skill Gear, Gear Score Ranks and a Free Marketplace

Orbit Team

Pilots,

Update 2.0.0 is live, the biggest update since launch. T4 ships get a rocket launcher, life skills get their own gear, ranks are now letters earned with your Gear Score, the marketplace lets you set your own prices and PC gets a whole new look. Here is everything you should know.

Version 2.0.0 is required to play. On PC the launcher updates the game for you. On Android and iOS, update from the Play Store or the App Store.

Rocket launchers, rocket ammo and the Warhead Core

New weapon: Rocket Launcher

The G-K2 and the Vengeance get a new slot for a rocket launcher. On the G-K2 it sits between the four generators, on the Vengeance in the middle of the ship.

  • RL-3 fires 3 rockets per salvo and RL-4 fires 5, every 5 seconds, on their own while you attack. You can also fire a salvo by hand from its action slot, with the same cooldown.
  • Rockets rise from your ship and curve onto your target. Each one shows its own damage number and has its own launch and explosion sound.
  • Two rocket ammo types, chosen in the action bar like laser ammo:
  • RKT-A: full damage to aliens, half to players. 1,000 credits per rocket.
  • RKT-M: 70% damage, the same to aliens and players. 750 credits per rocket.
  • Rocket ammo is sold in the shop (Missiles tab) and can be crafted in the LAB.
  • Launchers are enchanted like lasers: same chances, Arcane and Stellar Stones and Cron Stones. Every level raises the damage of every rocket.
  • Launchers add RLAP instead of AP, and it counts towards your rank: Gear Score = AP + RLAP + DP.
  • RL-3 drops from the same aliens that drop T3 gear, on top of the usual pieces.
  • RL-4 is crafted in the LAB with a Warhead Core, a new material that every world boss can drop. The odds are the same as the boss's T4 piece: higher for the raffle winner, lower for everyone else.
  • The marketplace has a new ROCKET LAUNCHER section under Ship gear.

Ranks: letters by Gear Score

The new rank badges, from E- to SS
  • The military ranks are gone. Your rank is now a letter, from E- up to S+ and SS, with brand new badges.
  • Ranks are earned with your Gear Score: the AP, RLAP and DP of the combat gear you have equipped. Every day at 00:00 UTC every pilot is placed by percentile, so the letter shows where your ship stands against everyone else. The same Gear Score always gives the same letter.
  • Your badge shows next to your name under your ship, in the ranking, in your Pilot Profile and in the Esc menu.
  • Most Wanted pilots get their letter too. The skull no longer replaces the rank: it spins above the ship, and in the ranking it shows right after the name.
The Rank tab: badge, name and Gear Score, with the Most Wanted skull after the name
  • The ranking window was redesigned on PC and mobile: badge next to the name, numbers in fixed columns, gold, silver and bronze for the top 3.
  • New faction emblems everywhere: profile, clan, ranking, settings, faction select and the menu.

Life skill gear

Life skill gear: tools, generators and bonus pieces

New gear that raises your life skill mastery in Mining, Salvaging, Processing and Synthesis. It goes in the new LIFE tab of the Ship window, with its own paperdoll.

The LIFE tab: bonus pieces, the tools of your current skill and your mastery table
  • Bonus pieces: Chip x2, AMP x2, Harness and Core give mastery to every life skill.
  • Tools: one laser and one generator per skill. Drill and Dynamo (Mining), Tractor and Turbine (Salvaging), Refiner and Furnace (Processing), Catalyst and Reactor (Synthesis). Only the laser and generator of the skill you are using count, so swap them when you change activity.
  • Lasers and generators also add Life EXP (more life skill XP). The Drill adds +30% rare mining drops.
  • Three tiers: Apprentice (T2), Skilled (T3) and Artisan (T4).
  • Apprentice is sold in the X-1 and X-8 base shops for 1,000,000 credits, Skilled in X-8 for 10,000,000.
  • Artisan pieces are made in the new Manufacture station (Factory > Processing) with an Artisan Schematic, the Skilled piece and its own material. It needs Processing Artisan 10. Schematics drop from the MEV-5 elites and Boss Tharkun.
  • Reaching Apprentice 1 in a life skill gives you a free Novice generator for it (Rewards > Goal). Novice generators can't be enchanted.
  • Life gear can be traded on the marketplace, in its own LIFE SKILL section.

Enchanting life gear: Diamonds

Diamond Fragment, Diamond Crystal and Diamond Gem
  • Life gear is enchanted with Diamonds, not stones. Fixed chances, no failstacks and no Cron Stones.
  • Lasers and generators go up to +15 with Diamond Crystals, and from +15 to PEN with Diamond Gems. A failed DUO, TRI, TET or PEN attempt drops one level, and every fail costs max durability like normal gear (repair it at the blacksmith).
  • Chip, AMP, Harness and Core go Base, PRI, DUO, TRI, TET, PEN with Crystals (Apprentice) or Gems (Skilled and Artisan). A failed enchant destroys the piece.
  • Pick the Diamond from your inventory like a stone; it shows as a ghost in the material slot until you place it.
  • Diamond Fragments drop while mining (1% per ore) and as an extra from LAB crafts. 10 Fragments make a Crystal and 10 Crystals make a Gem in Simple Synthesis. Diamonds are also sold on the marketplace, in Materials > Enhancement.

Life skills

  • About 6 times more XP per action, with mining on par with the rest. Guru now goes up to Guru 50.
  • LAB and processing speed stop improving at Guru 20.
  • Mastery no longer shortens harvesting time. Only the Drill and the mining stim do.
  • Processing no longer gives extra output. The Refiner shortens each processing cycle and the Furnace adds mastery and Life EXP.

Factory

  • The Craft zone and button are now called Factory.
  • Every processing station and the LAB use a new bench: slots around a core that light up when the material is in.
  • START runs one cycle and stops. MASS PROCESS keeps going until the materials run out, up to 10 per cycle.
  • Simple Synthesis and Manufacture: choose how many of each material to place. A recipe only matches with the exact amounts, and each slot shows how many the recipe needs (red if you don't have enough).
  • New material picker with search and cards showing how many you own.
  • On PC the inventory opens next to the Factory and closes with it.
  • You see what you got after every processing cycle, LAB craft and successful LAB experiment.
  • Bound items (Halloween candies, rewards from the calendar, Logs and mail) can be used in Melting, Grinding, Simple Synthesis and the LAB.

Free marketplace

Set a price: type any price, with the reference price as a guide
  • Set any price you want when you sell or place a pre-order. The window shows a reference price based on recent sales as a guide, and with a stack it shows the price of the whole stack.
  • Gold items can also take a typed price, but only within their usual range. Go over it and you see "Gold item prices are capped at ₡ X".
  • In Browse, each level shows the cheapest listed price, only when there is stock. Each price row shows how many items are listed at that price.
  • The button to buy at your own price is now Pre-order price.
  • Bigger rows with separators on PC and in the browser.
  • New sections: LIFE SKILL (Bonuses, Lasers, Generators), ROCKET LAUNCHER and DEATH EFFECTS. Glitch, Black Hole and Pumpkin Burst can be sold, and so can Pilot Name Change and Faction Transfer (in Consumables). Equipped skins and death effects must be removed before selling. Free gifts, like the Pilot Name Change you get when you start, can be used but not sold.
  • "Can be traded on the market" in the item info now matches what you can really sell.
  • Cheaper starter gear: LF-1, SGEN-02 and GEN-4000 cost 350,000 in the shop.

Shop

  • LF-1, SGEN-02 and GEN-4000 are now also in the X-1 shops. You need level 8 to buy them.
  • MCB-2 ammo is sold in the X-1 and X-8 shops, 500 credits per round. It can still be crafted.
  • Extras are grouped: Repair Bots, Combat Modules, Utility and Slot Expanders.
  • Items with a purchase limit that you already reached show a grey Sold out button. Weekly ones say when they reset.

Blessings: four tiers

Blessing tiers I to IV
  • A Blessing protects your inventory: the items, ore and ammo you carry. Your equipped gear never needs one: lasers, generators, drones, extras, the rocket launcher, your beacon and your life skill gear are always safe when you die.
  • Blessings now have 4 tiers. Tier I saves each inventory item with a 50% chance, Tier II 75%, Tier III 95% and Tier IV your whole inventory. Stacks like ore and ammo are rolled per unit.
  • To raise the tier of a credit Blessing, use another of the same kind while it is active. One-use Blessings go up when you use several together. 12h and 24h Blessings go up and restart their clock.
  • You can't use a different kind of Blessing while one is active. Wait until it ends; nothing is lost.
  • Gold Blessings (7, 15, 30 and 90 days) are Tier IV from the start.
  • Hover the Blessing in the HUD or the menu (tap it on mobile) to see every tier, with yours highlighted.

Combat and PvP

  • Hits on the same target now merge into one damage number (and one MISS), both the damage you deal and the damage you take.
  • Dying on a map where you can lose items now drops all your loose ore. Sectors 3 and 4 no longer keep half of it. Equipped and bound items are still safe.
  • Equipped crafted extras (REP-2/3, TM-01/02, ROK-SP-1/2, ARL-1, AUREP) no longer break when you die.
  • Killing a pilot of your own faction in MEV-4 and MEV-5 now costs honor, like on every other map. Self-defense still counts: if they shot first, you lose nothing.
  • PvP missions no longer have a rule on the victim's level. You get at most 3 rewarded kills per day on the same pilot.
  • Removing speed generators now lowers your HP to the new max.
  • Death screen: the portal button is off when you can't pay for it.

World bosses

  • World bosses no longer regain health when pilots stop hitting them.
  • Their fury is softer: +20% every 30 seconds, up to x3.
  • Their health scales with the pilots really fighting them, from a minimum of 3.
  • Other pilots' pets now fly to boxes and ore like yours, instead of only following their ship.

Clan diplomacy

  • Alliances and NAPs are now requests: the other clan accepts or rejects them, and then they count for both clans.
  • War is declared at once and counts for both clans. To end it, send a peace request.
  • Breaking an alliance or NAP is instant, for both clans.
  • New REQUESTS list under Relations, with the requests you received (Accept / Reject) and the ones you sent.

Rewards

  • Legacy Seals: a new free currency, 10 a day for every pilot from Rewards > Daily. Spend them in the new Legacy Shop of the Gold Shop. All the details are in the Gold Shop post on this board.
  • Time: new rewards for the days you play. 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 days give 100 to 500 Legacy Seals. Days start counting with this update.
  • Time: 100 hours gives an Advice +40, 250 hours 100 Cron Stones and 500 hours 250 Cron Stones. 1,000 hours now gives +4 Inventory Slots and a Pet Selection Bag.
  • Time: new 3,000 hours reward with a Value Pack (14 days), 25 Artisan Antimatter and an Advice +80.
  • Goal: reaching level 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 gives the Advice only, no Cron Stones.

New look on PC and browser

  • Windows move to the new glass style: inventory, storage, marketplace, enhancement, shop, clan, logs, recipes, drops and pilot select. Main buttons are white, and every item slot marks its tier with a thin line along the bottom.
  • Window bars only hold the title, the tabs and the X.
  • The HUD stays on screen while a window is open: you can use the HUD panels, the action bar, slot keys and the minimap without closing it. Closing a window you opened from the Esc menu takes you back to the game.
  • Windows no longer close when you click outside them. Use the X or Esc.
  • Action bar: no name under the slots. Ammo and charges show inside the slot, like an inventory stack (red at 0), and refresh after every shot.
  • Ship window: Equipment, Cosmetics and Life tabs in the bar.
  • Chat: channel tabs fill the whole panel, with thin separators. Enter keeps you typing after sending.
  • Gold Shop: Preview for ship and drone skins, to watch the skin fly before buying it.
  • Enhancement: smaller altar, bigger material count, and the controls sit lower. The Cells bank is opaque and only closes with its button.
  • Pilot Profile: your account ID is hidden by default. Click it to show it, or use Copy.

Mobile

  • The Gold Shop opens full screen with the PC design, a back arrow and an X. Full-screen windows now respect the notch and rounded corners of your phone.
  • New Chat and Missions buttons on the left, above the move joystick. They open full-height side panels, and buttons respond on touch, without lag.
  • New HP and shield bar above your ship. You can hide it in Settings.
  • Chat: bigger channel tabs with separators.
  • Strips under the window titles are gone: next boss, event timers and searches now sit in the title bar.
  • Logs: shelves in a 2 x 2 grid, and the Hallow Log page fits the screen with its CLAIM.
  • Ranking, Pilot Profile and the menu show your rank badge. Statistics show in four columns.
  • Pets: Combine pets is at the top of the main view.
  • Marketplace: Trending and Favorites side by side.
  • Item info: "Can be traded" shows above the Use and Equip buttons. Items opened from Drops and Recipes open once and without the Link button.
  • Daily reward icons are centered in their tiles.

Halloween

  • The Hallow Hordes rift needs level 6.
  • Logging in over a live Hallow Hordes run, or a server restart, now pays out the rounds you played.
  • Inside Hallow Hordes the repair bot works, drones start at +15 and Quick join shows the free rooms.
  • The Hallow Log marks the targets of the current page on your map.

More changes and fixes

  • New pilots who sign up with Google or Apple get an automatic pilot name, plus a free Pilot Name Change in the mail.
  • Bound stacks, like Halloween candies, can be deleted from the inventory.
  • Advice items from storage go to the Gold tab.
  • Active boosters in the Esc menu update right away when you use a Loot Scroll, EXP Scroll or Training Rounds.
  • The group panel no longer stays on top of open windows.
  • Blacksmith: the Open button greys out when nothing needs repair.

General bug fixes and improvements.

See you in orbit.
